YEN-ONAM’18 Celebration @ YIT

According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. Onam is celebrated at the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of the Malayalam Calendar.

As like every year, YIT did celebrate Onam, the prayers of the auspicious day to the flood-affected victims of Kerala and Madikeri.

The celebrations started with setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookalam) in the reception area that was reminiscent of the agrarian past of Kerala, a South Indian state. Impressive designs and artistic creativity were the hallmarks of the Pookalam, which turned out to be attractive and mesmerizing and took everyone into a world of festivity.

Other main special attraction Thiruvaathira Dance (folk dance around pookalam),  Mahabali of Yenepoya (YITian), jovial games and delicious Onam special food included with varieties of vegetables, rice, banana, and payasam.

Engineers Day’17 Celebration in YIT

Every year on September 15th, YIT celebrates the “Engineer’s Day” to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (1861-1962), an eminent Indian engineer. Function was invoked by the seeking the blessing of almighty. Chief Guest Dr. Ashok Rao, Former Project Head, CADET. IISC, Bangalore garlanded Sir.M. V. photo as token of respect accompanied by Principal Dr. R.G. D’ Souza.

Dr. Rao in his address spoke about changing faces of engineering and management in education system and contribution of young engineers towards developing INDIA. Dr. Rao was felicitated for his achievement in engineering. Dr. R. G. D’ Souza, Principal of YIT and Prof. Gangadhar, HOD of ECE presided over the function.
