YEN-ONAM’18 Celebration @ YIT

According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. Onam is celebrated at the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of the Malayalam Calendar.

As like every year, YIT did celebrate Onam, the prayers of the auspicious day to the flood-affected victims of Kerala and Madikeri.

The celebrations started with setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookalam) in the reception area that was reminiscent of the agrarian past of Kerala, a South Indian state. Impressive designs and artistic creativity were the hallmarks of the Pookalam, which turned out to be attractive and mesmerizing and took everyone into a world of festivity.

Other main special attraction Thiruvaathira Dance (folk dance around pookalam),  Mahabali of Yenepoya (YITian), jovial games and delicious Onam special food included with varieties of vegetables, rice, banana, and payasam.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 2018

To pay our homage to the brave soldiers and great martyrs of our country, on Kargil Vijay Diwas, a Special Programme was conducted by the grade VIII students on 27.07.2018. A skit along with a dance was enacted on the life of a soldier. A presentation was made to brief the gathering about the Kargil War. Four special ex-army officers Mr. Mohan Kumar, Mr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. B K Shivprasad Rai and Mr. Victor Vijay Rego were invited for the programme. The guests were honoured with a memento, shawl and fruit basket from The Yenepoya School, as a token of gratitude. Dr. B K Shivprasad Rai and Mr. Victor Vijay Rego spoke a few words and addressed the gathering. The Students were then allowed to ask the guests a few questions related to the occasion. The Programme ended with a video documentary of the journey of a soldier and inaugurating the Kargil Fund. The proceeds will be donated to the families of the soldiers who sacrificed  their lives for our country.

Diya Ravi Kumar wins 4 titles at International Miss Pre-Teen Contest held at Thailand

Diya Ravi Kumar of Grade IX, of The Yenepoya School, was felicitated along with her parents Ravi Kumar and Vani Kumar, at a Special Assembly conducted in the School auditorium on 11.07.2018 after winning 4 International Miss Pre-Teen Contest titles – ‘Best Evening Wear’, ‘Best Talent Overall’, ‘Best Talent’ and 2nd Runner-Up ‘Asia Pacific Princess 2018’. She also spoke a few words and shared her experiences of her achievements. Campus Director, Mrs. Mishria Javeed also addressed the students with her motivational speech.

The Yenepoya School Cricket Team emerges victorious after many wins at Sri Lanka

The The Yenepoya School Cricket team has emerged victorious after many wins at the 5 one-day Cricket Series held in Sri Lanka at Kandy, Colombo and Ratnapura. Six students along with their coaches Santhosh Misquith and Ashwin Koppal participated in this event and have brought back laurels to our School. The Students who took part were – Aman Akthar Guthigar, Grade X (Longest Sixes Award), Aman M Shetty, Grade X (Best Bowler Award, man of the Match and Highest Wicket Taker Award), Mohammed Riham, Grade X (Man of the Match Award and Highest Wicket Taker Award), Rajdeep Singh, Grade X, Advait Acharya, Grade VII and Soham Acharya, Grade VII. The School felicitated the young Cricketers at a Special Assembly held on 11.07.2018. The Students were then addressed by Mr. Santhosh Misquith and Mr. Joseph Mechirath, Principal.

‘Yen Blood Connect 2018’

On the occasion of Doctor’s Day 2018, the students of Grade IX conducted a special programme. A Blood Donation Camp, ‘Yen Blood Connect 2018’, was organized by The Yenepoya School, Jeppinamogaru, in collaboration with The Yenepoya Medical College, Derelakatte. The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Alfred Augustine, Dr. Vikram Shetty and Dr. Prajaktha Kulkarni along with Mr. Joseph Mechirath, Principal of The Yenepoya School and Mrs. Mishria Javeed, Campus Director. More than 60 donors including Dr. Prajaktha Kulkarni, Staff Members, Parents and Degree Students of The Yenepoya College, Balmatta, voluntarily donated blood on this occasion. Dr. Sharif, Head of the Blood Bank, Yenepoya Medical College, spoke on the importance of blood donation along with Dr. Joby E.C., Principal of The Yenepoya Degree College, Balmatta.

 

Investiture Ceremony

The Investiture Ceremony 2018 took place on 30.06.2018, at The Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya University, Derelakatte, Mangaluru. The Welcome Address was then given by the Principal Mr. Joseph Mechirath. It was indeed an honour to have amongst us the Chief-Guest, Dr. Akhter Husain, Head of the Department of Orthodontics, Yenepoya University, along with Mr. Yenepoya Moideen Khurshid, Director of the Yenepoya Group, Mrs. Mishria Javeed, Campus Director, The Yenepoya School, the proud parents of the newly elected Cabinet Members and some of the Former Head Boys and Head Girls.
